Just because someone has a diet restriction or preference doesn’t mean it should be harder for them to find their next meal. That is why we created Yumaroo, so people can spend less time searching and more time exploring foods.

The inspiration for Yumaroo came while I was a college interning in a new city. One of my fellow intern friends was a pescetarian and another was a part-time vegetarian (whatever that means).
It took us forever to find a place to eat! It was so bad that those in our friend group that didn't have a specific diet gave up searching for places because anything we would suggest didn't have enough variety or appetizing options for our friends with diets.
And that was when I came up with the idea of curating restaurant meals based on diet restrictions.
I really love everything. But my all-time favorite is a Vietnamese dish called Bánh Cuốn. It's a bunch of steamed rice crepes filled with pork, mushrooms, and shrimp topped with fried onions.

I've spent more time deciding what to eat than actually eating my meal. And when my friends are involved, it seems like someone always ends up compromising their food preferences for the group. Yumaroo is my opportunity to change that.
My goal is to design an app that helps people enjoy every single meal they eat, whether alone or with friends. You will always get a delicious suggestion no matter your dietary restrictions. No more spending hours of your day deciding what's for dinner.
On my last trip to Thailand, I tried this dessert called Shibuya Toast or Butter Toast. It is basically a large loaf of white bread that has been lightly grilled with lots of butter. On top of it, they pour honey, place chopped fruits, add some whipped cream, and drop a whole scoop of ice cream.
This plate has everything you would ever want in a dessert. It has been the best thing I have ever tried in my entire life. I don't expect anything to top it.
I joined Yumaroo because I identified with their mission. While I personally do not have any dietary restrictions or special diets I follow, I have friends and family that do. Trying to celebrate special events with them by having a meal out hardly ever was enjoyable as the search for a restaurant that had already catered to their needs was time-consuming, discouraging, and anxiety-ridden. The frustration often made us opt for making something at home or buying a snack.
Yumaroo has created a solution to this problem, the mission is to make eating out an enjoyable experience for everyone. Truly a time-saver, as it gives you the location, prices, dishes, ingredients, pictures, and a personalized meal suggestion.
Additionally, it helps the restaurant better serve this customer base, with ratings and reviews on each individual plate, and time saved on having the information readily available versus having to ask the host, server, and kitchen to ensure their plate is exactly the way they need it.
Finally, people of all diets have the chance to be truly enjoy the Austin foodie experience.
All food is good, all the time. But my favorite comfort food has to be pozole rojo, especially the pozole cooked by my mom. Pozole is a stew, made with hominy corn, meat (usually pork or chicken) and red chiles. It’s traditionally garnished with shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, maybe a grilled onion, salsa or Valentina, and limes. Cold wintery days + pozole = happiness.
Who doesn’t LOVE food? Food brings me so much joy. My love for food, especially spicy food, and sweets are some of the main reasons I joined Yumaroo. I want to help people who have spicy and sweet cravings like me.
My goal is to make Yumaroo your pocket-sized foodie friend that knows exactly how to satisfy your palate. Helping people find food that will make their taste buds dance brings me happiness!
My favorite food has got to be Mexican street tacos. The juiciness of the meat, plus the tanginess of the lime, and topped with the spiciness of the sauce equals pure joy in my mouth. When I need a spice fix, I know that I can always find it in tacos.
I’ve spent a decade focused on bringing food and technology together to make the world a better place. Yumaroo has the opportunity to change how we eat out without making sacrifices in our preferred dietary choices.
With Yumaroo, consumers can feel empowered to choose restaurants for themselves, groups of friends, or business lunches which can accommodate the needs of the many versus the few.
Yumaroo also provides valuable data to our restaurant partners allowing customers to rate specific dishes. This will greatly enhance a restaurants ability to adjust menus and be more successful. Winning.
Depends greatly on where I am located. If in New York, thin crust wood or coal fired Pizza. In California, handmade Tamales with fresh chips & salsa are comfort food. If anywhere in between, french fries of course.
